For screamers and anyone who wants to get loud: CONSTIPATION; if you've ever been, you know what a pain in the ass it is (pun intended), but I'll bet you don't know that it's taught you more than you could ever imagine about singing/screaming/or whatever form your vocalization takes. That is, you already know that if you want to get it out, and get it out good, you have to push really, really hard! Okay, I know you're wondering where I'm going with this... Remember the last time you saw your favorite artist live, and they were going for the loud part (or maybe it was all loud), and you saw them all bent over and squatting a little like they were getting ready to lay a really big one? Well, there's a reason for that. If you're a screamer (you know you are), and you've never quite been able to match the prowess of your favorite screamer then you should... TRY THIS: First, go ahead and let 'er rip the way you always have (vocally, that is). Okay, not quite living up to your expectations, huh? Now bend slightly at the waste, just enough that you can feel your abs start to tense a little as they hold yourself in that position. Then, bend your knees a little, like you're getting ready to take a little leap. Okay, now take a deep breath and bare down, just like well... you're constipated... but don't scream just yet. Take a moment and feel what that feels like. Now do it again. Feel how your abs tense up? Okay, now in the same position, take another deep breath, bare down and as your abs start to become firm, scream, or sing/vocalize that phrase that has been giving you fits, trying to time your the point at which your abs are their firmest, which the loudest part of your vocalization. Whoah! What a difference. Now go show all your friends and fans what you can do! (pun intended again) Constipation is truly a wondrous thing!! LOL Back to Annie's Words of Wisdom |
